Abstract

This research is about Islam Hadhari, a study on the level of understanding among Muslims in Melaka Tengah. This study is to assess the level understanding of respondents towards the concept, objective and principle of Islam Hadhari. The survey is conducted in Melaka Tengah. A convenience sample of 120 Muslims population is consisting of the workers (either at the public or private sector), students (college and university level), housewife and pensioner were asked to answer the questionnaires. But only 110 respondents were obtained and analyzed. The level of understanding among Muslims had been evaluated through the mark that they get after answering the test statement in the questionnaires given. Levels of understanding towards the concept, objective and principle of Islam Hadhari had been ranked into three categories which are high, partial and low level. Data are analyzed using reliability test, correlations analysis, frequency analysis and descriptive analysis through SPSS Program and also Cross Tabulations. Amazingly, that these 110 Muslims populations have a high level understanding about Islam Hadhari especially a respondents among the students. Male and female also have a slightly different on the level of understanding. As a conclusion, the study does not generalized for all Muslims at Melaka Tengah and cannot easily conclude that all Muslims populations at Melaka Tengah have a higher level of understanding about Islam Hadhari based on these 110 respondents.
