Abstract
The project was conducted by a group of final year students of Diploma in Wood Industry. The material that we use in this project is kelempayan wood (Neolamarkia cadamba). Kelempayan species has density between 370 to 465 kgm-3 airs dry. Studies conducted to determine the ability of the kelempayan wood suitability for use as a product through the various production planning aspects for example in terms of bill of material, route sheet, and part list. To complete this project we use several measures including the marking, cutting, splitting, planning, and assembly, sanding and lastly finishing. In this study we used a total volume of 46,544.42 cm3 timber and the total cost to complete this furniture was RM300.04. In addition, the production of the furniture can contribution to the parents in choose appropriate baby cot for their children based on the desired function. The manufacture of baby cot furniture from kelempayan wood has great potential to be a new material in making furniture because it easy machined and furthermore the wood has light in color. Therefore, it gives valuable characteristics to be a raw material for furniture component in form of solid wood.
