Abstract

Nowadays, commitment is vital in organization around the world. Commitment defined as the process through which people become willing to give their loyalty and energy to a particular social system. Factor that contribute toward commitment among student leaders are cocurricular involvement, formal leadership role, and leadership education and training program. Furthermore, the purpose of this research is to identify the relationship between cocurricular involvement, formal leadership role, and leadership education and training program toward commitment of student leader. This research is a quantitative research which used questionnaire as an instrument to collect data. The data had been successfully collected from 74 respondents out of 135 as a total population in UiTM Melaka City Campus by using convenience sampling method. Then, all data were analysed and interpreted by using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software. Thus, Pearson Correlation analysis indicates that the strength of association of cocurricular involvement is low while formal leadership role and leadership education and training program receive moderate result. Apart from that, regression analysis shows that there that cocurricular involvement, formal leadership role, and leadership education and training program have no significant relationship toward student leader commitment.
