Abstract

The extrinsic career success determined by the emotional intelligence an individual’s can pursue. In this case study that conducted at Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah, Samarahan researcher more concerned to one level of extrinsic career success which is promotion. Researcher intended to find how the relationship between emotional intelligence and extrinsic career success (promotion). Several theories that were found from lots of journal were discussed to further explain the association between two variables in this study. A total of 53 respondents was took part to complete the distributed questionnaires and the data was analysed and used in this study. From the result of the study case, it showed that there is negative significant correlation relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Extrinsic Career Success (promotion). This means that emotional intelligence cannot be a yardstick in promotion and not reliable to measure the career success of an individual’s. Further, this study provides the discussion of research question and the recommendation for the future research.
