Abstract
The condition of physical and safety features of existing ablution platform is essential to give all users the well-being in the immediate area. Mosques and prayer places have also surged in popularity. There are many cases of injuries that happen when taking wudu’ because of the unsuitable floor finishes. Slip and fall risks are a major worry for worshipers among the challenges they face. Therefore, this paper will focus on how the flooring materials effect the safety of users in the ablution area such as slipping problem especially among elderly people. In this research, the study of existing ablution is to identify the type of of floor finishes which are used in Masjid Baling, Kedah. The construction drawing, observation and questionnaire will be analysed. The expectation in the selection of using suitable floor finishes such as non-slip ceramic tile and pebble wash in relation to the user’s movement could significantly avoid slip. Thus, the selection of flooring materials will be analysed to find the appropriate materials suggest that can enhance the safety of users as well as avoiding the risk of slip problem. It is recommended to regularly inspect the current ablution and toilet floors condition to avoid fall.
