Abstract
Blended learning is currently practice in education area to reduce seat time and to improve learning. The main concern of this research is focus on instructor’s involvements in blended learning with the students’ perception towards it. Currently instructor rarely presence in blended learning class thus it lead to student’s dissatisfaction. Thus this research aim to provide guidelines to instructor in development of blended learning platform with instructor’s involvements. A survey conducted via questionnaire and group interview. Data from quantitative and qualitative are gathered and the result of findings shows that students’ positive perception towards involvements of instructor in blended learning in form of avatar representation. According to student’s perception angle using avatar representation they can feel sense of instructor’s presence in blended learning and existing of instructor are made available at real time. Result of this finding lead to guideline of development of blended learning platform with instructor involvements. The guideline is 1) instructor should have this element: teaching method, technology used by instructor and also social support to involve in blended learning class, 2) the instructor provides feedback on real time to students and encourages active participation in blended learning class, 3) existing of the instructor should be made available for students’ for instance with the representation of avatar, 4) a platform of blended learning should have the features of ‘notification’ and ‘history’ so that the students can seek for recent notification and seek for the old and new message. For future work to ehance this research is study on instructor perceptive towards their involvement in blended learning.
