Abstract
In Sabah, homestay programme had been one of the community's sources of
income. Almost all area in Sabah are participated in this programme, not even
rural area, but also the urban area where providing a place to stay that most likely
cheaper than the ordinary hotels and motels. Therefore, further study must be
conduct because there is still few previous study that focuses on problem faces by
this homestay operator in Sabah. however there is still few homestay that being
recorded in the list, that most likely the previous study only focuses on the
popular homestay Kalsom, (2002); Nor Ashikin & Kalsom, (2011); Ibrahim,
(2004) in Sabah especially. This study conducted to find the effective
management practices that can improve homestay program in Sabah. The finding
shows result for effective management practices to overcome management
challenges faced by homestay operators in West Coast area in Sabah.
