Sulaiman, Norizan (2001) Industrialised technique of housing construction using formwork for low cost development / Norizan Sulaiman. Degree thesis, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM).

The need to industrialise Malaysia's housing industry is an inevitable, necessary option as a result of the country's recent economic developments. The remaining issue is how to introduce it in order to guarantee its successful implementation in coordination with the existing conditions in the industry. The paper will first analyse the need to the industrialised Malaysian housing industry with the main discussions cantered around the existing conditions and the future prospects for the construction and housing industry, its performance and the quality, time and cost. Following this, the paper will discuss the previous experience with industrialisation in the country, introduction, development, the advantages and disadvantages. Finally, the paper will explore the feasibility of a particular way to initiate the industrialisation of the housing industry using formwork system that will ensure both its success and solve the current urgent low cost housing needs in the country. The discussion here will revolve around the current dismal performance of the low cost housing production in thiscountry, the promise for improvement through the industrialisation using formwork and the prospect presents in helping to initiate the industrialisation of the Malaysian low cost housing industry.
