Abstract
The educators' task to help students read and understand what they have read are often focussed on the products of comprehension and always ignored the process. This condition will result in the students exhibiting negative attitude towards reading and may reject remedial attempts that are carried out on them. The study however tries to examine the extent to which the "Language Experience Approach" would be able to help overcome the learners' reading problem. The research also tries to find out whether the instruction has merit for remedial readers. Specifically for the purpose of this study, a total of ten Year Four Primary School pupils were selected. They were conducted with the remediation and the result was carefully analyzed. The study does not intend to make comparison with the controlled group. The findings are expected to be able to bring forth the factors related to the poor mastery of English as a second language. Other than that the study is hoped to stimulate interests for other researchers to do more in-depth study on the same subject matter. The study is also anticipated to help stimulate teachers to do remedial reading.
