Abstract

This study examines how the English Literature can enhance English Language Learning. The study involved Year 4 students of SK Song Kheng Hai, Song Thian Cheok Road, Kuching for a period of one year (2005). For analysis purpose, the data collection is based on two midterm exams and two term exams results. Observation on the students' learning behavior was also carried out during the study. From the study, it is found out that there is an improvement in the students' achievement based on their exam results. The impact is seen after the implementation of English Contemporary Literature materials usage as part of their English Language component. The improvement is also due to a change in behaviour of the students in learning. The right combination of methodology with the relevant materials in teaching and learning process can contribute to the students' success in mastering the English Language.
