Construction projects abandonment in North Region: contractors’ perspectives

Zulkifli, Nur Athirah (2024) Construction projects abandonment in North Region: contractors’ perspectives. [Student Project] (Unpublished)

Abstract

In the Malaysian construction industry, project abandonment is still a major issue. In addition to the end users it also has an impact on the general public and other project participants, such as the client, consultants, and contractors. Occasionally, it also entails the use of public funds to bring previously abandoned projects back to life. The objectives of this study are to determine the causes of project abandonment, the impact of project abandonment on the construction industry, and potential solutions for construction project abandonment. This study reviews the literature on the causes of the issue and discusses the problems and effects of abandoned construction projects in Malaysia. The results of an industry-wide questionnaire survey on the real reasons behind abandoned construction projects in Malaysia, which gathered 377 respondents, are then given and studied. The results of more analysis will be done and discussed.
