Abstract

This research paper concerns in trying to see how the usage of Government Multipurpose Card (GMPC) as a payment mechanism influence the consumers purchasing activities. Mainly the research will only be conducted in Klang Valley. This research will basically see the response of consumer in Klang Valley area towards the application of E-Cash by using their GMPC. The researcher will also try to find ways that can simplify the consumers purchasing activities by using GMPC as a payment mechanism. On the other hand, the researcher screen out some of the element that may create complexities towards the usage of GMPC as a payment mechanism. The researcher then comes up with some solutions or recommendations on how to lessen if not eliminate the complexities in using GMPC as a payment instrument. Therefore, it is hoped that in the future when the government implements the usage of GMPC as a method of payment, no serious cases that can harm the consumer directly or indirectly occurred. However, further research should be done by the government in the future regarding the usage of GMPC as a payment mechanism since this research is exploratory in nature. This will enable the government to get more insight about the GMPC since security of using it as a payment mechanism is a big issue. Thus, it will help to improve the level of public acceptance towards the usage of GMPC as a payment mechanism.
