Abstract

This project is a study of the properties of anatomical, physical and chemical properties of wood species Batai (Albizia falcataria). Batai tree species was taken in Merbok, Kedah who was 7 years old. This tree is mature in nature. Samples from these trees is used to study the properties of anatomical, physical and chemical properties of the height of whether the level of the base, middle, and this is also the principal port and the frequency of pore diameter, density, specific gravity and moisture content and ash. Methods used in determining the pore size and frequency of measurement and counting using a digital lens. Methods used in determining the density of the water displacement method. For specific gravity, water immersion method is the determination of ash content and the method of combustion is burned. From the results it obtained Batai sample of pore diameter is 200.681 µm, frequency pore;3.73 number/mm2, density;307.167kg/m3 specific gravity; 0.250, moisture content; 0.781%, ash content; 0.966%. In conclusion, Albizia falcataria tree may be a product but the low quality products.
