In this study, creosote as one of the popular of wood preservative was chosen. It had been used enormously throughout the world. It has been used since nineteen century and commercially in wood industry through preservation process. It is commercially made from coal tar with different of specification to suit different application. It is an effective wood preservative. The effectiveness of creosote has been studied from many methods and test. But, it is not enough and practical. So, many observation and analysis had been made through it experience of services. Also, from this study, the retention of creosote in heavy hardwood, medium hardwood and light hardwood by soaking methods had been identified. So, in this project, it contains the accumulation of facts of study on the retention of creosote as a wood preservative.
