Abstract

Oriented strand board (OSB) is one of many wood composites. Today, this panel is the most popular engineered wood for worldwide since this tremendous material replaces plywood for building construction. The Mahang species (Macaranga gigantea) is selected to know the properties of OSB which made from this species. The testing on the board is to know the mechanical properties and physical properties. The mechanical properties are Modulus of Elasticity (MOE), Modulus of Rupture (MOR) and Internal Bond (IB) while for physical properties is Thickness' Swelling (TS) and Water Absorption (WA). The result of these specimens will be compared with the Europe Standard (EN 310). Then, the potential of the board will be known after comparing with the Europe Standard Data.
