Abstract

Wood industries m Malaysia nowadays have experienced tremendous development. The sector's contributes to the nations income by export earning of wood based products and create employment for the growing Malaysian population. To enter the global economy, this sector should develop a platform where we can contribute and share information in this industry. To implement this effort, Geographical Information System (GIS) can be a powerful tool. It was a computerized computer system which can combine many layer of information. This system required hardware, software, data, trained users and sound analysis methods for interpreting the results generate by the GIS. The application can be useful to government bodies, private sector, and the public alike. This study will highlights on the application of the GIS in wood industry towards a global use such as its potential usage, sources of information data, implementation problem and preventation taken.
