Abstract

Rattans have traditionally played an important role in the lives of our people, particularly those in the rural areas. It has been used for a wide variety of purposes ranging from basket-wore, cards and toys to furniture and houses. The rattan industry has also developed into a modem multi-million dollar industry with its products enjoying very high demand domestically as well as internationally. In Malaysia, rattan is still product entirely from natural forest.
