Abstract
Sawmill industries in Peninsular Malaysia for the last 10 years had grown and developed satisfactorily. The stability condition in these industries gave good support to Malaysia economic. The review includes many factors such Bumiputera participation, sawn timber production, sawn timber market, and employment. There were 711 sawmills and there were 155 units of Bumiputera sawmill in Peninsular Malaysia. In 1999, Peninsular Malaysia produced 694,667 of sawn timber and exported 0.43 million cubic meters. Red Meranti is the highest species that use in sawn timber producing. Three types of sawn timber are kiln-dry, ungraded and graded. There were 13,381 employees in this industry.
