INA517: History of Eastern Art and Architecture / College of Built Environment

The course encompasses the history of art and architecture of the eastern region of Asia which includes India, China and Japan. The topic, India covers Hindu architecture until its transformation during the Islamic era. In China, the early dynasties to the modern era will be discussed . The topic on Japan will include prehistoric Asuka and Nara to modern Japan. However, the focus of understanding will concentrate on the religious philosophies and their impact on art and architecture of the Eastern world.
