Abstract

The students will be exposed to technical vocabulary, theatre spaces, stage areas, tools, production team, rigging and safety procedures. They will learn to read, watch, and critique plays. This course also designed to help students in the theory, process, and techniques of lighting design. Topics will include the principles and methodologies of lighting design, the development of a design concept, script analysis from the designer's perspective, drafting and plotting techniques, color, and effects. This course is intended to acquaint students with the elements of theatrical design. Students will be informed about each area of lighting design relationship including scenery; costume; sound; and properties, discuss the development of design concept in the context of production, and finally putting the design on the stage.
