Abstract

This course exposes students to the basic concepts and theories of writing for fiction and non fiction. The understanding of each genre is further categorized through the types of written genres. Key literary genres that will be highlighted in the course are short story, drama, poetry, screenplay, book review, feature, biography and autobiography. Each genre presents distinctive concepts and theories that would help the students to differentiate the fundamentals elements required for each written genre. In order to measure students’ understanding of the distinctive concepts students are required to generate ideas to prepare a fiction and a non-fiction writing. At the end of the course, students must complete two individual assignments and a group assignment.
