Abstract
Zakat plays a role in helping asnaf in public universities, especially in University of Technology MARA Perlis Branch. Through the distribution of zakat at the end of each semester, the presence of a zakat unit at UiTM Perlis, which is administered by the Coordinator of Zakat, Sedekah and Wakaf (ZAWAF) at UiTM Perlis, has been successful in easing the burden of asnaf. In order for zakat administration to be carried out in an effective and efficient manner, the zakat institution has developed into an important entity in the process of collecting and distributing zakat. This institution helps to distribute the zakat given by zakat payers towards zakat recipients. The purpose of this study is to evaluates UiTM Perlis with regard to its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. ZAWAF's strength is having dependable contributors that are transparent and fair in management implementation. It will provide an opportunity to increase the number of contributors and minimize the burden of parents on students in funding their university studies. However, ZAWAF's weaknesses such as time limits and a lack of information (zakat awareness), will pose threats such as difficulty identifying the neediest students and on-Muslim students' dissatisfaction. ZAWAF is able to devise a variety of methods by utilizing the chances and strengths that are already available in order to overcome these threats and weaknesses.
