Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the perception of the pupils in using “Long Division” in learning division operation. It involved Year 5 pupils of Sekolah Kebangsaan Semerah Padi, Kuching , Sarawak. This study was conducted to determine “Division Box” as a successful effective method commonly used by pupils in solving mathematics division operation. The study employed both quantitative and qualitative survey involving distribution of questionnaires, Pre-test and Post-test. The data collected were analysed using EXCEL Microsoft Office. Results were analysed in terms of pupils’ perception in the use of “Long Division” method and the effectiveness use of “Division Box” method in teaching division operation. It aims to determine whether the use of “Division Box” method helps pupils in solving division questions. This study demonstrates that the teaching of division operation using “Division Box” method is better than learning by using the conventional forms.
