Abstract
Purchasing of the spare parts and delivery of the spare parts to the final customers are two of the major activities in EV-Shukmatec Engineering (M) Sdn. Bhd (EVS). The nature of business in this company is ‘buy to sell’. Therefore, EVS will source the spare parts from suppliers and mark-up the price to be sold back to customers. This research is to provide a clear view on how purchasing system and delivery system for spare parts are exercised in EVS. Problems such as limited source of the spare parts, late delivery from suppliers, lack of IT application and late payment from customers have been identified as a problem and interrupt the smooth operations of the purchasing and delivery of the spare parts. Therefore, steps to overcome the problems should be taken immediately in order to maintain its good image. Several recommendations are proposed to control and improve the situation, thus minimize the effects of the problems on the purchasing system of the spare parts and the delivery system o f the spare parts to final customers.
