Abstract

This course exposes the students to the basic principles and concepts of adaptation. The students are also introduced to the various sources of ideas for adapting a story namely film to film, TV to film, Novel to film and short story to film. The issues of faithful and fidelity; the two important views that need to be addressed if a text were to be adapted is also discussed. For the course, students are required to write a 45-minute script based on a short story (cerpen). The adapted short script is meant for Television and Film.
