Abstract
The Sejahtera console table's design process, which ingeniously combines traditional inspiration and modern craftsmanship, develops as a story of cultural fusion and exquisite creativity. Inspired by the rich heritage of the Bunga Padi (rice flower) design, a symbol of prosperity in Southeast Asian civilizations, the Sejahtera console table embarks on a journey that flawlessly integrates tradition with contemporary aesthetics. The canvas wood, chosen for its light colour, provides a spotless backdrop, symbolising a blank canvas ready to embrace the detailed story of the Bunga Padi. The precision of Japanese inlay techniques brings the design to life through the inlay procedure. The use of darker-colored wood for the inlaid pattern highlights the geometric intricacy while also creating a fascinating visual contrast against the light canvas. The design revisions struck a fine balance between keeping the originality of the Bunga Padi motif and adding a modern, minimalist twist. Each step required cautious planning to ensure that the Japanese inlay method suited the chosen woods, transforming the console table from a piece of furniture into a work of art. The console table's design process examines cultural influences, dedicates to workmanship, and celebrates timeless elegance by combining traditional inspiration with contemporary execution. The console table not only serves a utilitarian purpose but also exemplifies the enduring beauty found in the combination of several design inspirations.
