Abstract
The designer is designing an armchair that is influenced by the cactus's characteristics and form. However, adapting complex natural shapes can pose challenges in terms of maintaining structural integrity. Natural forms do not always conform to human ergonomics. Designers need to consider the comfort and usability of the furniture when adapting natural shapes. While the aesthetics of natural forms can be captivating, personal tastes may vary. The designer selected a living room of the condominium house as a furniture location. To achieve the theme inspired by nature, there were five chosen and the designer narrowed it down to three main items which are Cactus, Scallop, and Butterfly. Research has been conducted to study the characteristics or details of the item and the designer chose Cactus as the main concept of CACTI. As a result, the designer created CACTI as a comfortable armchair. The purpose is to provide a unique seating style that is more comfortable in the living room. These chairs are made of cushions that provide an additional layer of padding, making the seat more comfortable. Additionally, cushions with specific features, such as lumbar support, can be effective in relieving back pain, and related discomfort.
