Abstract

This module is aimed to provide students with fundamental studio knowledge and practical experience in working with clay materials. Concentration will be on wheel work, throwing and turning besides some basic modeling and mould making, slip casting, surface treatments and glaze (colors) making. The student will be guided through various set projects with a series of lectures and critics in studio practice. Projects set will deal with creativity in wheel works, forms and surfaces with the introduction of all basic elements and principle of forms, ideas and execution/experiments in the actual forming processes. Practice is also investigated through material practice, elements of visual language and cultural theory. At the end of the semester student will present (display and oral presentation) their complete artwork for evaluation.
