Abstract

Career choice is a complex decision for students since it determines the kind of profession that they intend to pursue in life. As students try to make career choice, they face problem of matching their career choices with their abilities and school performance. However, studies indicate that most students enter into careers that are totally different from the ones they chose while in study institution. The purpose of this study was to examine factors influencing career choice among adults. The study will be conducted using descriptive survey design with a population of about 100 respondents. The data for this study is collected using questionnaire and secondary data. The findings of related studies indicate that one of the factors in career choosing is opportunity. As individuals with higher skills for example, may get higher opportunity in a certain career. Other factor that may influence career choice is family attachment. A family with high educational background may influence their child in career exploration process. Lastly is environment. It is said that the way of living and people surrounding may give effect on individuals thus may also affect career choosing of individuals.
