Abstract

This course discusses the historical aspects of costumes ranging from the ancient Egypt (300 b. c.), Mesopotamia, Greek, Rome, Middle East (Arab), China, Japan, Western Europe (Middle Age, Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo) and the 20th Century. The learning aspect includes design, silhouette and types of costumes, external and internal factors that influence the design of the costume, the philosophy of the costume design and terminologies that relate to the costume type. Students will understand the development of costumes from ancient times until the modern age era.
