Abstract
Dilapidation and repairing works are works that require to be done to restore a commercial or property to its original condition. It is an important step to ensure a building is safe to live in for the next occupants. For a building to undergo a repairing works, a dilapidation assessment must be conducted on the property to record the existing condition of the building. The assessment usually is done by professional figures such as building consultants or professional contractors with extensive experience in assessing building. On the dilapidation survey, the building assessment can be carried out on the property to identify problems and dilapidation existing in the property. Only then, a Dilapidation and Repairing Works Proposal can be prepared for the client, consisting of the defects recorded on the building and the proposed repairing works can be taken which is important for the client to understand the damage and defects in the house by reading the description and severity of every defect listed in the report. Next, the client will be presented with a quotation for the repairing works that needed to be done on the property to restore the property to its original state according to the client’s budget and preference. Only then, the dilapidation and repairing works can be carried out.
