Abstract
This course introduces students to local wisdom and knowledge closely associated with the literary, cultural and creative world. Students will be exposed to forms and structures of Asian texts such as folk literature and other cultural forms. They will explore a range of culturally specific concepts and topics such as budi, merantau, semangat, or other Malay/Asian aesthetics or concepts. The course also deals with some universal concepts, which can be understood within specific cultural realms, from the concept of hero, questions of authorship, archetypes, to notions of space and time.
