Abstract
This research is investigates problems and challenges faced by music teachers in implementing music curriculum in secondary schools. Six music teachers were selected from various secondary schools in Selangor and Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur area. Data was collected through one-to-one interview and information's are recorded. It is using qualitative method. Findings of the data are presented by categorizing into the specific themes based on the research questions. Results indicate that music teachers faced problems and challenges in implementing music curriculum in secondary schools nowadays. This is also supported by common problems, for example lack of music instruments, proper facilities for music classes, timetable and varying attitude towards music among other teachers. Novice music teachers faced more challenges and problems in implementing music curriculum because they are lack of experience compared to senior music teachers. In this research it also included suggestions to novice music teachers about how to manage and overcome problems regarding to the music curriculum. As a result music teachers managed to work out around these problems by using other alternative on teaching methods such as using their own creativity to teach students. Generally, all music teachers in secondary schools reported that their students loves and interested to learn music.
