Abstract
I created a variety of original designs inspired by the subject matter which is translated into textile design. For this piece, I applied batik technique in many layers of wax and colours and added detailing of textures to make it appear more intricate. The designs that are stylised are organised in a conventional composition. The dyes extracted from the subject matter are employed using various mordants to create colour masterpieces. I become more receptive to new experiences and more open as a result of dyeing. I also enjoy taking part in the full creative process. I want to learn more about natural colouring, that’s one of my aims. I find that by using natural dyes in batik gives value to the craft. I hope that people will be appreciative of local batik designs that use natural dyes as colouring just as I do.
