TSL653 : Critical appreciation of poetry and prose / Faculty of Education

This course will focus on developing students' understanding to enhance analysis and appreciation of English poetry through the Ages. Poetry analysis is the process of reading and examining closely a poem's form, technique, content and history to enable students' to construct their personal understanding and responses so as to compare with generally acceptable understanding of poems read. By a close reading of a variety of English poems from different poets and eras, students will eventually become skillful readers of poetry. Students will also read poems that they can appreciate and connect with so that they can become familiar and comfortable with English poems.
