Abstract
In this course students will be introduced to various literature components offered in Malaysian secondary schools. Focus will be on the teaching of both the small ‘l’ and big “L”. Students will also be exposed to the three models and three approaches in the teaching of literature. The three models are: (1) the cultural model, (2) the language model and (3) the personal growth model and the three approaches are: (1) the information-based approach, (2) the language-based approach and (3) the personal response-based approach. Knowledge of these models and approaches will be used when students design teaching and learning tasks/activities and write lesson plans and conduct micro-teaching lessons based on the current list of literature texts.
