Challenges and implications of waqf land development and management in Penang: a case study on Waqf Seetee Aisah / Anis Izzah Abdu Hamid

Recently, the community's awareness of the benefits of waqf has been increasing. MAIN as the sole trustee has done various ways to increase the benefits of waqf to mawquf alaih (recipients of waqf) thereby generating the economy of the Muslims themselves. This paper aims to examine the challenges and implications faced by the Penang Islamic Religious Council in developing Wakaf Seete Aisah. In Malaysia, waqf is under the authority of the Islamic State Religious Council (MAIN). MAIN is the sole trustee for related matters and acts to manage the waqf in accordance with the guidelines outlined in the waqf legislation. Waqf is one of the important instruments to the socio-economic development of Muslims. This study contains three main objectives which are studied based on data collected through primary and secondary data. The objective is to identify the challenges faced by MAINPP in developing and managing Setee Aisah endowment land in Seberang Jaya and its solution. Next, this study was made to increase the awareness of Muslims on the importance of waqf and its great implications to the economy and well -being of Muslims. Therefore, this study is considered very important for Muslims to deepen and understand it.
