Abstract
The local government of today is required to conform to new norms and standards to become more professional, skilled, economical and responsive. This course examines various theories on local government and studies its application in a Malaysian context. The relevance of these theories in a local context will be critically reviewed. Some issues and challenges encountered in managing local government in a changing world will also be examined.
