Abstract

Environmental factors, which is a branch of ergonomics, is something alien to Malaysians a decade ago. However, now people have realise its importance. This phenomenon occurs due to the improvement of individual education. They now know that the knowledge of environmental factors not only improve efficiency but also health. Nevertheless, only very few people knew about it, making it still alien to the majority of Malaysians. In industries, environmental factors is also known as industrial hygiene. Where it is a study that concerns with vibration, noise, illumination, temperature and etc. All these factors are very important not only for the sake of producing good quality products efficiently, but also for providing a better working environment to the workers. Where this will reduce them from being exposed to the health hazard environment. For instance, noise and vibration. Whenever there is noise, there is vibration and vice versa. At certain level, they are very useful; such as massage device and warning chime or bell (for warning or signal purposes). However, at a high level it could cause harm. Where it could change the human normal biological systems. At an extremely high level, it might even cause pain or even be fatal.
