Abstract
Dante Chair is a folding X-shaped chair which is the arms end in scrolls and continue all the way up to the back support. It is made to look like it can fold, but in reality, it cannot. It always has a leather seat and back support. It also has a boss where the legs intersect. Other than that, it's also known as an X-chair, also scissors chair, Savonarola chair, or Faldstool. Xbiscus is a single-seat Dante chair with a Hibiscus-inspired, partly Scandinavian style for a modern luxury bungalow. The designer chose Hibiscus because of the shape of the sprinkling petal and because it is a national flower. The target user is for singles, families, and boomers. Apart from that, the designer uses the features of Hibiscus flower to ensure the design becomes unique (nature-inspired), appealing to users, comfortable and easy to use. The XBiscus Dante chair uses velvet type material for the seat and backrest, as well as a rounded metal body frame and legs with a waist to make this new design of Dante chair stand out. The design process focuses on adding padding to the armrest and backrest, along with additional features such as a cup holder at the armrest. Moreover, the legs are supported by a rubber tip or anti-slipper, so that it does not slip or move easily. It is hoped that, with this invention, users will feel very comfortable and appreciate the designs that are created using the influence of nature. Furthermore, the designer also hoped that the XBiscus would fulfill the ergonomic requirements of the target user and location.
