Abstract
Nowdays, plantation part in Malaysia is the biggest farming based to support monetary project including upstream and downstream activities especially in oil palm plantation. In order to maintain our economic contributor, we need more workers to participate in our plantation so it will increase production of palm oil in Malaysia. But, most of local youth would not in estate segment and our nation were filled by the outside laborers. However, the problem is Malaysia is rising in social issues from unlawful outside laborers and deluge of remote specialists without work grant. This study examines the relationship between repulsion and attraction factors and determine the dominant of repulsion and attraction factors that influence youth participation. A survey method through questionnaire was utilized to gather information from 53 of local youth between 16 years to 40 years old at Pembangunan Pertanian Melaka Sdn Bhd (PMMSB). The result shows that the independent variables of repulsion and attraction have significant relationship with dependent variables because both factors of repulsion and attraction is affecting local youth at PMMSB. Besides, the dominant factor of repulsion is working surrounding while the dominant factor of attraction is high salary. This study provides the evidence that all independent variables of repulsion and attraction have relationship by using correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. For recommendation, government agency should give more attention and find some strategies or alternative ways to improve the repulsion and attraction factors towards youth participation in oil palm plantation.
