Abstract
Workplace accident in an industrialized world is a major problem. Industrial accidents have a significant impact on the organizations involved, such as financial losses, reduction in employee morale, and impact on the reputation of the companies. The purpose of this study is to investigate the most influenced factor which affects the accident among harvester in oil palm plantation. A questionnaire and interviews were used to collect data about factor influencing accident among oil palm harvesters. There were 86 populations of workers and only samples of 71 respondents who are working in oil palm plantation at FELDA Tun Ghafar Kemendor, Jasin were randomly selected based on Krejcie and Morgan table. Correlation and regression analysis are used in this research to analyze the data by using Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) software. Cronbach’s Alpha shows value more than 0.7 for all variables only facilities 0.664 which indicates all the questions is consistent. Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin Measure of Sampling Adequate (KMO) value is 0.678 near to 0.7 which means the sample is nearly adequate. The results show that the R Square is 0.348 which indicates 34% of workers risk factor being explained by the independent variables. Attitude has a weak positive relationship while knowledge and facilities has moderate positive relationship between risk factor. These correlation shows that these three factors are affecting the risk factor affecting accident. Result of regression shows that facilities is the most dominant factor towards workers risk factor followed by knowledge and attitude. Hence, top level management need to understand the facilities risk factor will lead to better working environment which avoid from accident occur in workplace.
