A study on theft activities that caused the site management cost / Hafizah Fitrah Abd Nasir

Theft is the biggest issues in construction industry. Every year almost all contractor in the whole country in Malaysia faced the same problems which is theft activities happen in their construction site. This research focused on the construction company in Perak, Malaysia only. According to the JKR and CIDB almost 3,364 registered contractors in Perak. This study to analyse the materials, equipment and plant that always being targeted and frequently loss in the construction site. Also, to evaluate the capital loss according to the theft activities. Lastly to looking forward for the factors that being the major problem and distribute to the theft activities in the construction site. But according to the current situation which is Covid-19 Pandemic, the study will have the limitation such as cannot go to the site to evaluate the situation. Only the question of questionnaires being distribute through google form to the targeted contractor. The question been distributed to 200 contractors but only 100 contractors respond to the survey. The questionnaires’ purpose to collect primary data and has been analyse it using Microsoft excel to get the mean score of the respondents. This shown may perspective from the contractors according to the theft activities issues, however almost of the contractor agreed the factors that contribute to the theft activities are because of lack of surveillance on construction site. Looking for the factors, this can be a guideline to the contractors to improve their security system and surveillance at the site.
