Abstract
As the world progresses with the implementation of the 4th Industrial Revolution, Quantity Surveyor (QS) competency must progress alongside the construction industry. It is a crucial call for quantity surveyors to keep on evolving in order to maintain a sustainable future career development and the importance of the profession itself. Due to this, quantity surveyors need to be equipped with required skills and knowledge to stay relevant as time passes. Thus, it was appropriate that further research be conducted regarding to the matter as it involves the future direction of the said profession. This research intends to identify the competencies that are needed by quantity surveyors to ensure a flexible transition in career development as future approaches, also to survey the barriers that are faced by quantity surveyors as development phase emerges and to determine the level of awareness among quantity surveyors towards the necessary changes of career approach.
