An analysis of the financial performance of construction companies listed on main board on Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) by using Financial Ratio Analysis / Noriza Mohd Saad

This project paper is prepared in partial a fulfillment of the degree of the Bachelor of Administration (BBA) Finance. For this purpose, I have selected a topic entitled, "An analysis of the financial performance of construction companies listed on main board in the Kuala Lumpur stock Exchange (KLSE) by using Financial Ratios Analysis". The purpose of this study is to enable the readers to become aware that there exist models that could be applied in analyzing the current performance of companies, especially in detecting symptom ($) that might lead to a success or failure. The research methodology is concentrate on Financial Ratio Analysis on the selected companies. There are 5 types of ratio used in 3 specific methods like Times Series Analysis, Cross- Sectional Analysis and combined Analysis in 3 conservative years (1998,1999 and 2000). To select the construction companies in Main Board, the sampling process was used on 33 construction companies randomly. Based on findings, most of the construction companies show the bad in financial performance in the 3 conservative years may be due to the economic recession, competitors among companies and reducing in the country's construction.La stly, based on studies, conclusion and recommendation was done to give an overall conclusion and recommend investors and other related persons whether to buy, sell or to hold the construction companies stock in 3 years.
