Abstract
This project paper is prepared to fulfill the requirement as required by the Faculty of Business Management, MARA University of Technology. For this purpose of study, I have sclected a topic entitled, " A Comparative Study on Tier-1 Finance Companies Performance in Malaysia: A case study on Maybank Berhad, Public Bank Berhad, Arab-Malaysian Merchant Bank Berhad (AMMB) and Hong Leong Bank Berhad".
This project paper conducted to evaluate the performance of finance companies listed on KLSE by using financial ratio analysis. The purpose of this study is to enable the readers to become more aware that there are models that could be applied in analyzing the performance of the finance companies.
Overall, this study used secondary data to measure the performance in collecting the relevance information. This includes journals, articles,
magazines, Internet and annual report. Four finance companies listed in financial sector in the main board of KLSE have been selected as sample
for this study. This study analyzes data for the 4-year period from 1997 to 2000.
Finally, the ratio analysis is one of the methods in analyzing the performance of selected companies. By using this ratio analysis, we can analyze the company's performance from year to year. I hope that this study can give some guidelines and valuable information in analyzing the performance of the finance companies, especially in the Malaysian market scenario.
