Abstract
Project management is commonly perceived as one dimensional framework due to absence of holistic viewpoint shown in a particular Information Technology (IT) project. Moreover, the failure rate of IT projects has been proven to be very high nowadays. Nevertheless, organizations that realize this and are committed to improve the quality of their project management handling will therefore have a strong competitive advantage. The realization of such IT project will be highly depending on the excellent maneuver by the project manager. The objectives of this study are aimed to identify and recognize the success/failure factors of IT projects implemented in Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) through the eyes of project manager. On that note, various broad-spectrum management literatures on the project Critical Success Factors (CSF) have been studied to demonstrate the association between the project variables. Subsequently, the identified list of the success/failure factors will be ranked accordingly using Project Implementation Profile (PIP) analysis. The findings are seem to be extensive towards Go/No Go decision making imputes. This study uses questionnaire as a strategy to collect quantitative data of 62 respondents in IT project implementation. This study concludes that if the repercussion of IT project management is properly managed at the very beginning, it could be successfully overcome with less hassle.
