Abstract
In the past few decades, students' assessment has been practiced in teaching and learning environment. Students know their achievement level via assessment. Meanwhile, it notifies educators about the achievement of the preferred goal in learning. As the technology changes, there is a need to have an assessment tool to ease the educators in evaluating the students. The issues rise on how to improve efficiency, streamline the administrative processes, and support the student's learning styles by using technology in assessment process. Currently, assessment process is very time - consuming, costly and stressful for student and staff. The importance of standard assessment for universities to certify standardization in marking, student assessment is not being implemented using technology platforms and how to ensure effectiveness consistency in assessment is another problem faced by assessor in teaching and learning. The different types and methods of assessment that available in teaching and learning presented in this research are expected to help educators to discover the best practices of assessment and determine technology that can emerge in assessment. This research only covered for Masters in Information Technology (MSc. IT), Faculty of Computer & Mathematical Sciences, UiTM Shah Alam, full time course work in management track and technology track only that are considered as research scope.This research used interpretivist research paradigm.In this research, a qualitative approach was used by applying case study. This research relies on observation and internal documents. The proposed research design for this research had 3 phases involved which are planning and preliminary study; assessing and analysis and implementing phase. Findings indicated that formative is known as the appropriate type of assessment and embedded assessment as methods of assessment by applying course embedded assessment produced appropriate practices of assessment in teaching and learning. The technology can be support for assessment is rubric and responsive web design. In future, other researcher can extend this research for other assessment component in teaching and learning; identify the degree of lecturer's acceptance and factors that influence the acceptance of e - assessment system among lecturers in MSc. IT. The implementation of me - RUBRIC can be implemented to other faculties in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Another recommendation is to make me - RUBRIC more flexible so lecturer is easier to make changes on their own rubrics. As for commercialize purposes, me - RUBRIC must be robust in order to change the content of the rubric and number of assessment. Hence, other faculty and universities can adopt and adapt me - RUBRIC for their assessment in teaching and learning.
