Abstract

The purpose of this correlational study was to investigate the relationship between emotional intelligence and job performance by adapted from Mayer and Salovey, (1997) and Job Performance (Borman and Motowidlo, (1993). Mayer and Salovey(1997) described four elements of emotional intelligence but only two elements choose to be studied which is self-awareness and social awareness. Meanwhile Borman and Motowidlo was focused on two influence factor of job performance namely contextual performance and task performance. In general, two objectives of this study were to determine which the most significant factor that has relationship to employees Job Performance and to investigate the relationship between Emotional Intelligence and Job Performance among employees at Sarawak Timber Industry Development Corporation (STIDC).
