Abstract

The tourism industry has becoming an important sector in many countries especially in Malaysia. It is because, tourism sector contributes to foreign exchange earnings and Gross Domestic Product per capita. Tourism has been one of the major sources to our country. By tourism, it creates many job opportunities among local worker and it reduce the number of employment in our country. The objective of the study is to gain knowledge and information about the factor that affecting the increasing number arrival of Singapore tourist in Malaysia. In this study, the factors that have been listed are exchange rate factor and Gross Domestic Product per capita factor. The study is focusing if exchange rate for Singapore and Malaysia and Gross Domestic Product from Singapore that gives the effect on the increasing total arrival of Singapore tourist in Malaysia. This factor is gain from Singapore currency and Singapore Gross Domestic Product per capita as income. Time series data is used to measure the variable in this study from year 2008 until year 2016. In this study, the data used is quarterly data every year in order to gain significant result.
